Resource management soon for villages covered by APREGS

1.48 lakh works costing Rs. 900 crore are in progress


The State Government is contemplating preparation of a National Resource Management (NRM) plan for every village covered by AP Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (APREGS). Four teams of officials have been deputed to each Mandal to prepare the plan by the month end.
The teams will identify the resources available in each village and the works to be taken up for their optimum utilization. They will also identify the works to be taken in the next coming three years will be listed. The Government expects a saturation of works by the time APREGS is fully implemented.
According to APREGS Director A Murali said that the officials are finding it difficult to locate works to be provided under the scheme. So far 2.53 lakh works costing Rs. 1582 crore have been sanctioned in 13,000 villages of which over 8000 works worth Rs. 50 crore were completed and 1.48 lakh works costing Rs. 900 crore are in progress.
